Post DSL and TSL...where did they go?
I have noticed that many of the top online retailers are not listing the TSL or the DSL anymore?  Has production ended?

Many retailers are not selling them because they can't, nobody will pay $1600 for a new DSL. One just needs to look at eBay so see how cheap you can pickup up a TSL or DSL right now. I tried to sell mine a couple month ago but when I could not get even a nibble at 750 for a mint amp I decided screw it I am keeping itt, to me it is worth more that $750 and I don't know why but my DSL sounds much better than others I have heard, I think I simply got a good one. The thing has great tone and when amped togther with the VM in stereo you get some serious great tone.

Marshall still shows both amps on their web site, but I would gues they are being discountinued or will be shortly. I believe in 10 years many who swithed from a DSL to the new JVM will be wanting their DSL back.

i think marshall discontinued both lines already, but you can still find new old stock at some stores. or you could pay a little more and get the 1923 which is bassically an anniversary edition dsl

EBAY!  Like Surf said, you can find these on ebay regularly for less than 700.

With all the new models Marshall has come out with (or is coming out with) it's just a matter of time.

Does anyone think that sites like Ebay will eventually be regulated more, and that companies loosing money like Marshall may lobby for changes applicable to these sites. I mean, I think we all have a right to sell are used gear to anyone who wants to buy it, but ebay has become like a one stop shop for all. I know in the state of Tennessee, if you hold a yard-sale, you are by law "supposed" to pay taxes on any items you sell, even though they're used, and you already paid the taxes on them when purchased. I just foresee similar fees applying to ebay at some point, to where it is more difficult to buy/sell there.

I was lucky enough to have a 'tour' round the Marshall factory recently and saw plenty of DSL's rolling off the production line - no sign of it being discontinued.
If money was no object I'd still have my DSL50 as well as the VM - both fantastic amps that do slightly different jobs.

Yeah, I'd love to have a DSL, TSL, hell 1 of every amp marshall has made for that matter. I do believe though, that the DSL deal that marshall has currently with the 4x12 cabinet for $1299.99 (DSLMLB?) is an attempted answer to the lower used prices these amps are selling for on ebay and like sites. Marshall probably has at least one person assigned to monitor these market trends. I mean they reissued the JCM 800 and the JCM 900 4100, so they had to know that there was a demand for them on the used market. The DSL is still the most successful amp they have sold as far as sales go (info taken from the net, so I cannot 100% confirm this), so I still think it may be in production for awhile longer. But, it is a fact that dealers are carrying them less and less in the U.S.

I personally don't think Marshall would have any reason to drop DSL and TSL out of their range. If you think about it, there are numerous single channel tube amps in production at the moment (2203x2, 1959x?, VM, 1987, 2245...), and the amount of multi-channel tube amps has also increased a lot, but dual channel? There are the DSL's, the MA's and then there are JCM 900's. Three amps, all available as 100 or 50w. And TSL is in various ways quite different from JVM's, so I believe it too has its own justified place there. Of course, I can be totally wrong, and next week they'll tell that both lines will be discontinued... :scared2

Anyway, I do hope they will not be making a reissue of the JMP 2203, cause if they do that, I'll guess I'll have to sell my wif... Harley, I mean.  :Embaresed

Post Re: DSL and TSL...where did they go?
from personal experience, I bought a new dsl 50 about 9 months ago and it was a royal pain to find. dsl 100's I've seen around, but not the 50s. After a few months of owning the 50 I tried a 100 at GC and really thought it sounded like crap compared to the 50, and I don't think I've had the volume past 10:00 - it's a loud 50W. I was on the verge of buying one of those 1923's because I fell in love with the tone, until the store owner told me it's the exact same thing as a dsl 50. I do think it's really strange why they go for so much less than new on ebay (new is like $1200-1300 for a 50 if you can ever find one). Sounds as good as any other amp I've paid $1200-1500 for.
